Functions

• Implementing fundamental and applied researches in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology;
• Training doctoral program; collaborating with other members of VNU to train master programs in the area of microbiology and biotechnology and implementing other educations and training requirements assigned by VNU’s president;
• Consulting and implementing scientific and technological services; pilot-scale production and technology transfer in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology.

Mandates

• Researching Science and Technology:
  • Taking part in national science and technology programs; implementing fundamental research projects and pilot-scale production projects in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology;
  • Optimizing technological processing for pilot-scale production of products derived from microorganisms.
  • Transferring technology for producing products capable of being commercial to needed companies.
• Training and fostering:
  • Organizing PhD’s degree training in the area of microbiology and biotechnology;
  • Collaborating with other members (university and/or faculty) of VNU to train master’s program in the area of microbiology and biotechnology;
  • Fostering and improving the science and technology qualifications, universalizing new technologies and issuing certificates to graduates of these training programs.
• Consulting and implementing services:
  • Consulting and providing services in the area of microbiology and biotechnology;
  • Consulting for policy makers regarding management, sustainable exploitation of microbial resources and scientific collaboration under the international Convention on Biological Diversity of Microbial Resouces;
  • Consulting for national biotechnology programs, government ministries and departments on strategies for implementing biotechnology programs.
  • Consulting and providing technical assistance to organizations and individuals transferring or importing technology in the field of microbiology and biotechnology.
  • Connecting and comprehensively collaborating with other members of VNU in implementing activities such as scientific research, training, technology transfer and service providing; using and sharing resources and facilities guided by VNU.
  • Implementing other duties assigned by VNU’s president.
